Idaho Transportation Department

Idaho Transportation Department is a government entity that works tirelessly to prevent road incidents from occurring. Multiple campaigns were created every year to target motorcycle awareness, impaired driving, child safety, and much more.

Safety doesn’t have to be stale.

Sometimes, government initiatives can feel a bit lackluster or big-brother-y. It was our goal with our Idaho Transportation Department partnership to create campaigns that would actually engage audiences and make real strides towards protecting the people of Idaho.

Motorcycles are really cool. But they can also be really dangerous.

That’s why we decided to use items that are recognizable to a typical motorcyclist to showcase art and copy that encourages drivers to double check for bikers on the road.

Working with a team of designers, each of us created a design that would be featured on an accessory and photographed for an awareness campaign. My focus was on the saddlebag, which shows a winding snake illustration with copy that reads “Don’t let my long ride have a short end”. The idea of a snake felt like a natural metaphor for the message while also fitting seamlessly into biker aesthetics.

I. Motorcycle Awareness

II. Little Monsters Campaign

Halloween is the scariest time of the year.

Not just because of the gory movies, ghosts, and ghouls, but because it can actually be dangerous for trick-or-treaters. As the sun starts setting earlier and the promise of king-sized candy begins to take hold, it’s not uncommon for kids to be crossing streets in groups. So we created a campaign utlizing traffic cones painted like candy corn to remind motorists to slow down and keep an eye out for the little monsters. We also snapped photography to use as part of a digital campaign to further spread awareness.
